Good Carpet can be one of the larger investments in your home with proper care it can last you 10 years or more however it only takes a couple accidents to ruin it past repair.
The first thing you need to realize is that no matter what the warranty or special protection all carpet can and will get stained. Small amounts of dirt, grass and asphalt tar will remain on the bottom of your shoes and will be tracked into the carpet fibers. This should be considered general wear and removing this stain buildup is a difficult if not impossible process. For spills and other immediate accidents you have more control.
Always remember that the least caustic cleaner is best.
Remove the large solids and liquids with paper towels. Make sure not to rub the stain into the carpet.
Now with a moist towel begin to dab at the stain. Large amounts of water can spread the stain so moist is better for starters.
Once you have removed as much as you can with water then you can use a mild detergent. We recommend that you stick with a diluted laundry soap mixture. One or two tablespoons of liquid laundry detergent in a spray bottle should work fine.
If the stain has set overnight you may want to spray it with plain water and let it sit for 30 minutes before beginning your cleaning process.
If your stain can still not be removed you can try one of the commercial carpet cleaning solutions or you can use a use a carpet cleaner.
